what's the foil stamping ,foil lamination ?

let's talk about some commonly used post-printing processes, such as bronzing, embossing, three-dimensional bronzing, UV, etc. These are the more commonly used post-press processes in design. About bronzing, it should be called: Foil Stamping, because the most commonly used are gold and silver, so we commonly call bronzing, hot stamping, hot stamping gold foil and so on.

Everyone has seen the printed matter of the bronzing process. Book covers, real estate albums, business cards, and packaging are all things that often likes to use. But if you have never entered a printing factory, you may not know the production process of the printing process.

Well, the following describes the process and principle of the bronzing process in detail.

1. Preparation for bronzing:

1.1. Material: The material that needs to be hot stamped, usually paper, or packaging of other materials such as plastic, wood, cloth, etc.

1.2. Anodized aluminum: also known as bronzing paper and gold foil paper. Anodized aluminum is produced by manufacturers in various fixed colors, such as red, black, blue, purple, green, etc. The same color system also has different effects, such as gold, dumb gold, light gold, champagne gold, etc. There are also some special colors Such as quicksand, laser gold, etc.;

1.3. Stamping version: We first need to engrave the designed graphics and texts on the metal plate, and imprint the graphics and texts on the metal plate onto the material to be bronzing. The materials of general bronzing plate are zinc plate, magnesium plate and copper plate.

2. Foil Stamping 

We can first imagine the company seal: the seal with the company name is engraved, smeared with ink, and pressed onto the paper. Then, bronzing can also be understood in this way: the engraved bronzing plate is the seal, the anodized aluminum gold foil used is the printing oil, and the gold foil is covered with force on the paper to complete the whole process of bronzing.

3. The process of bronzing

Figure 1, anodized aluminum is placed between the paper and the hot stamping plate;

Figure 2, heat the hot stamping plate to about 100-150 degrees, press down, after contacting the anodized aluminum, the pressure acts on the paper;

Figure 3, the graphic content on the hot stamping plate is completely attached to the paper;

Figure 4, the hot stamping plate is lifted and left;

 

Figure 5, under the influence of the temperature of the hot stamping metal plate, after the anodized aluminum contacts the pictures and texts on the hot stamping plate, the colored layer will peel off and transfer to the paper;

Figure 6, the anodized aluminum scrap that has been stripped is taken away;

2) The hot stamping plate is the same as the seal, and the content needs to be mirror-engraved, so that the cover/hot stamping on the paper will be positive;

3), too thin and too thin fonts are difficult to engrave on the seal, the same is true for the bronzing version, the fineness of the small characters cannot reach the printing;

4) The accuracy of stamping with radish and rubber is different, so is bronzing, and the accuracy of copper plate engraving and zinc plate corrosion are also different;

5) Different stroke thickness and different special paper have different requirements for temperature and anodized aluminum material.
